Primal Eating - and Catchup

Well hello there my friends! It's been quite a long time since we've all gathered and talked - but back I am, now, and I have some great exciting news to share with you all!

First a quick catch-up. (No - not ketchup).

The cruise was AWESOME. More on this in a later post. There were issues, but overall - it was great. Universal, on the other hand, was LESS so.

And now some bad news. When we returned, I weighed in at my highest weight EVER (374). I was pretty distraught. But Amber and I had a plan to enact when we returned home. We'd done some research, and decided to try the Paleo Plan (also called Primal Eating and/or the Caveman diet).

Here's how it works. It's simple.

Hunter/Gatherer foods. Organic when possible. Mostly 4-6 oz of protein per meal, veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts. No grains, refined or processed foods, or dairy. Less chemical food - more FOOD food.

We've been doing it 8 days (today is the second day of week 2) and I'm down TWELVE POUNDS since day one! I'm still having a bit of carb withdrawal (headaches, mostly) - but it's lessening, and I'm starting to feel stronger and better every day. You'll see I've restarted the club 8 ticker from 374 - and will be updating it weekly. (Editor's Note: Justin - when that ticker says 25, you owe me a graphic, if you'll recall.....heheheh)

Now obviously I don't expect to lose 12 pounds a week (although wouldn't THAT be great) - but we seem to have found a plan that is working. So if we stick to it - we might have a whole new Jonathan by the time we get to Disneyland (in just under 100 days). And goodness knows what Wine and Dine will see. January 2013 could be a mighty comeback!

Yes - I have three races coming up and I plan on doing successively better in each one. In fact, I just recorded an interview with Lisa on Those Darn Cats about the Disneyland half - which I'm stoked for.

In short - in terms of weight loss and fitness - things FINALLY are on the right track - and I'm excited about the progress we've already made.

Oh yeah - and I'm back to blogging. So if you missed me - stop by and say hi in the comments today! I wanna see a LOT of comments! I plan on updating at least twice a week, if not more.

And one last thing...

EPCOT AWAITS!

Can't wait for Disneyland. We've both got some work to do, but it could prove to be an outstanding race with lots of fun and surprises!

  6. Happy to comment and say WELCOME BACK! It's great that you picked up this eating style! We're starting it at our house on June 1st and I'm excited. It's supposed to help cut back on tumor growth as well, and since we're learning I'm a girly-parts-tumor-magnet, it's a GOOD thing!
You know how awesome you feel when people comment on your blog? Share the love bro! Comment on someone elses! :)
