Doctors

Today I see two doctors.

One my primary care doc to check on the change we made in my blood pressure medication - and likely to get yelled at because my weight hasn't changed. But also to discuss with her (she's a runner) my plan with my coach - my side stitch - and how to succeed over the course of this year.

Then I'm off to my counselor. I have to say - I'm really getting a lot out of meeting with her. I really feel like we're getting to the root of some of my issues. Then the question is - what do we do with the raw emotion we find? Well - it is a process.

I'll report to you all tomorrow on how it goes.

One note: Amanda - my "coach" and I are DEFINITELY going to get some road miles in - but as we see it - the biggest hurdle was the stitch. Working the diaphragm without cramping it on the elliptical will strengthen it enough to allow for a harder push on the ground. Just a thought...but road work is coming. ;) Rest assured.

EPCOT AWAITS!

  1. Breathing on the elliptical is not the same as breathing while on the road - check Jeff's blog for his experience with elliptical versus running and the differences in breathing.

I don't disagree that the elliptical will help, but it's not enough. I just want you to remember what your goals are - road races...Not elliptical races. You need that mix of workouts to strengthen everything and remember you're under a month to the next race!

  3. What to do with the raw emotion? Get it out! It's probably one of those things hampering your progress. At times they manifest and cause self sabotage. Not that I'm a therapist or anything....just some of my own experiences.

  4. I am so behind...I agree with Amanda..I also Agree you must do what is working for you. Are you doing core work to workout that stitch? Who is the coach??
Glad to hear therapy is working. I have thought about going to help working a few things out i need. When you can Finally work through the things that help create the self sabotage, only then you can put it behind you and move forward. I have learned that with my life experiences.
