The Grid

For those of you who have been inquiring as to whether this reboot is from the world of Tron or the world of Portal, Aperture Sciences wishes to enlighten you.

GlaDOS, your testing hostess, is an Aperture Sciences creation, designed to help this test subject through a series of tests. GlaDOS will monitor, comment, and, where minimally appropriate, encourage and punish. GlaDOS previously has been linked with testing of the Aperture Sciences Portal Device.

However - this new reboot project - has allowed Aperture Sciences to join forces with Encom - the company behind the "Tron" program - and it's main security feature "CLU" will be monitoring GlaDOS for any security breaches, while maintaining the game grid upon which this user's challenges will be faced.

In other words.

It's both.

That being said - the game grid will reboot in 3 days. Your continuing comments add to our computing power to boot the grid.

However - for additional motivation - we present an actual message from subject "Voice" for your consideration.

Actual message commencing in 3....2.....1....

Hey guys! The move is done - and we're getting settled in! But having hit a few snags lately, I figured I needed a reboot of my systems - so I enlisted the help of these companies to help me reboot my efforts! The quote above from Tron Legacy really, to me, applies to the world of running and racing - and me!

I've been working out already on the treadmill and elliptical that we bought for the new house - and am feeling good about getting back into the swing of things. On Monday we'll have an official weigh in - and GlaDOS will announce my first week's testing challenges - and she's already registered me for the 2012 WDW Half Marathon!

I'm really excited and can't wait to sebzzzzzzzzzzttttttttttttttt.......

As usual, this user's enthusiasm has gotten him carried away. This time literally. I had CLU and his men take him back to the.....calming chamber to spend some time with his companion cube.

Game Grid Reboots in Three Days.

Companion Cube

While this user's game grid is being rebooted, he is being linked to his Aperture Sciences Weighted Companion Cube. This cube, while inanimate and unable to speak, loves this user, and will never threaten to stab him, hurt him, or be a burden to him in any way.

The users formal testing will begin upon rebooting of the game grid - however - the user has been undergoing basic test familiarization using the all new Encom Systems NordicTrack C900 Treadmill Operation Device. This user is being brought up to speed, so to speak, so he can begin testing immediately upon the game grid's reboot.

The testing will consist of small daily tasks, medium weekly tasks, and large scale yearly tasks. The first of which has already been selected and registered within the system. Should the user successfully complete his regular testing, the first large scale test will commence in January, 2012.

Should the user fail to complete his regular testing, his companion cube will be euthanized.

Game Grid reboots in 4 days.

Aperture Welcomes You

All testing will be monitored by our state of the art GlaDOS system.

GlaDOS will monitor all testing, exercise, physical progress, measurements, and goals of this test subject. GlaDOS will also be fully administering the Game Grid upon it's reboot. We are quite satisfied to have paired with Encom systems to create the ultimate physical and mental testing environment for this test subject. We here at Aperture Laboratories wish to welcome you to the future of this users existence.

Cyberdyne systems T-1000 project was substandard and rejected for this project. All T-1000 subjects were euthanized in the Aperture Science T-1000 euthanization chamber. Test subjects uniformly preferred the Aperture Science Weighted Companion Cube to a "terminator".

If the Weighted Companion Cube could talk, and we would like to take this opportunity to remind you that it cannot, it would tell you that it loves you. And that it cannot wait for cake.

The Game Grid will reboot in 5 days, as per the countdown clock above and to your right. Every comment increases our computing power to the Game Grid. Continuing to comment will enable Aperture Science and Encom to bring you a more stable, robust, and satisfying testing experience.
