Well - we are officially back!
We had a GREAT time at WDW! I can't wait to tell you all about it - I'll be doing a detailed trip report AND a new article for all ears.net. But let me tease you with some details:
You'll soon hear about:
Paramedics
New Dining
New Attractions
Crazy Taxis
Holiday Parties
Scottish Invasions
And more!
As always, I return with a mixed blessing of news. Some good - some bad.
Let's start with some bad news. I'm up in terms of weight. Which surprises me a bit. I managed to not eat a single beef item at WDW. I did chicken, fish, sandwiches, etc. And of course, there was a lot of walking and swimming. I think I did about as well as you can! But with 11 days - perhaps it added up. I'm just not sure. And I'm kind of ashamed of where I am weight-wise. But all I can do is keep pushing forward.
But here's the good news. I had zero leg and calf and shin and foot problems. I've NEVER been to WDW and not gotten a blister. My New Balance shoes really worked well and I'm very happy with them headed towards race day.
As for the "pushing forward" part - we know that there's a race I mean to finish in 3ish weeks. But moving forward from that - I plan on training as hard as I can through 2012 - getting faster through each race (improving on every time) - and finally pushing forward and losing that 100 pounds I've been talking about. I'm resetting my Club 8 counter on the blog to ZERO as of today.
We'll be strictly enforcing the 2200 calorie a day diet. We'll be using the elliptical, treadmill, and/or going outside for a distance walk 5 times a week minimum. And we WILL see progress. It might take the whole year to reach the goals - or we might hit them in 6 or 8 months. Who knows?
But it's time to put my behind in the past. Or put the past behind me. Or something. :)
Hakuna Matata.
EPCOT AWAITS!

Unfortunately, avoiding beef isn't always enough. A lot of times the preparation of the healthier options makes them less healthy with sauces, butter and oil.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your mind is still in the right place. Focus on this next race and getting ready for it. Time on feet is so important and I'm sure WDW helped with that.
Keep it moving!
Calorie wise a week of dining at Disney is challenging at best. The walking and swimming help but how often did you kick in the cardio?
ReplyDeleteAfter a day in the parks its hard to find the motivation to get up even earlier than your typical rise and shine before rope drop to get in a gym workout. I do know that you hit the treadmill at least one day.(more?)
Going forward I would say that Timone and Pumba have missed something when it comes to "Hakuna Matata" Put your past behind you but, (and this is what they are missing) learn from it. I say "You CAN leave your worries behind and if you have learned from them you won't have worries going forward" Besides, There's a great big beautiful tomorrow out there.
I'm tying to be motivating but I'm not sure if its coming acrossed that way. You already know what needs to change in the days, weeks, months and years ahead. You are the Captain of your own ship. Plot your course and follow it. (Otherwise we may find you parasailing over Castaway Cay again)
Glad your shoes feel good. But please tell me you are not wearing them as your daily casual pair of shoes.
24 days and counting. Time to make like Rocky and find that eye of the tiger my friend.
Ya know, a good amount of the weight your carrying may be water retention. Dining out is HIGH in sodium, and I find that's usually where it gets me. Keep drinking water like there is no tomorrow (which is SO far for me in this cold weather) and keep logging your calories. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't focus too much on the 100 lbs. Just focus on losing that first 5 lbs. Then focus on the second 5 lbs, and so on. This has got to be a series of small, doable, goals that add up to something greater.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun. Paramedics? sigh....
ReplyDeleteSo why cut out beef? What about the sweets??
