This weekend was our BABY SHOWER! How awesome is that?!!
There was one problem for me - and I'm still nursing it.
After my 3 miles the other day in the new shoes. No problems. No pain. No nothing. Not even a hot spot.
Then I put on an old pair of sneakers to go into the office.
By 6pm, I had a WHOPPING blister on my right foot.
So for two days I've had my foot up and being treated with antibiotic ointment as much as possible. It was VERY painful. But this morning it's feeling a bit better - and tomorrow I ought to be back out there - planning a 5 miler. And planning on figuring out if it's the new shoes or not.
I'll admit that I'm worried. I know I haven't trained as hard for this as I have for others, and understandably so. And as such, I'm scared of letting my friends, family, and team down. But as Amber reminded me last night - "If you still have the courage to start, you're still a winner in my book."
And come heck or high water, I'll be there. :)
Now - onto fun pictures of baby showering!
Basically, we did awesome. We had a blast playing games, seeing our friends, and we're just so grateful to them for throwing such a party filled with love and excitement over our little girl, who is now thumping away inside mommy.
Okay - that's all for today - tomorrow we'll have a blister and exercise update! :)
MAIN STREET AWAITS!
Looks like a good time!! Especially the cake yum!! I would say Amber is pretty right on with her words of wisdom. 50% of why people fail is because they dont have the courage to start, and you know what maybe you should change your way of thinking. Instead of thinking in terms of passing or failing you should say I produced a result maybe not the result you wanted but its way of deleting the word FAIL from your vocabulary. I mean look at it this way. You are considered a great batter in baseball if your avg is .300 which means you hit the ball 3/10 times. So the other 7/10 of the time you didn't. So statistically speaking the more attempts you have the more successful you will be. So don't get down if you produce a result that you dont want or intended as long as you continue you will achieve your goals. Just keep your vision, focus, and determination. We are all here to support you. Sorry for using so much space, but I thought I would through in my view of success to give you some prospective and support.
ReplyDeleteThanks Johnathan. Happy Running!
Ouch - hope your feet are feeling better now and you manage to get the 5-miler in! And I agree with LourinSmith867 - you definitely should delete 'fail' from your vocab! I know it's easier said than done, but we are ALL rooting for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures from the baby shower and the cake looks delicious...wish you could share a piece with us through the internet! lol
Glad to hear the shower went well. Setting up toys, cribs, strollers, etc. Always a fun time in recycling the boxes that week!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had many blisters since I started running, but when I get 'em, they are pretty darn painful, so call me Bill Clinton cause I feel your pain.
Ya know, forget about disapointing others for a minute. What do you feel? Would you be disapointed in yourself? If you feel like you're doing everything you can to get ready for this thing, then be proud of that and others will follow suit. At the end of the day the person you will be accountable to most....is you! Keep truckin', you'll be just fine. :-)
That's terrible about the blister. What luck. Burn those old shoes!
ReplyDeleteI only got one blister all of last year leading up to the WDW Half Marathon. Would you believe it appeared 3 days before the race. It was huge and painful. The day before the race I was limping. It went down just in time for the race and I did fine.
You will do fine. Be smart about your training for the next month and you will be ready.
You've had a lot of good and bad come your way this year. It's great to see pictures of some of the good at your baby shower. You both look like very excited parents-to-be. Don't forget to pick up a pair of mouse ears for Elizabeth when you're at Disneyland.
Wow, you guys look so happy!!! It is so exciting having a baby and welcoming a new little life into the world. Even though Jennifer cried the WHOLE first night that we were home, it was still exciting. And 33 years later, it still is!! There isn’t a day goes by that we don’t think how lucky we are to have her in our lives and she and I talk/IM everyday no matter what.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you have a blister; PLEASE take it easy on that foot! I can’t say much more than what everyone else has said about getting that word out of your dictionary. You cannot possibly let your friends down; they will understand anything that happens. If they don’t they are not your friends. If something comes up and you can’t make this race, it isn’t a failure because you have already won. You have won in loosing the weight you have; in inspiring so many others to do the same thing; in raising money for Lou; in being such a wonderful husband, brother son and friend; in making so many people happy on All About the Mouse every week; in starting your own business; in being a really wonderful, caring lawyer; in being so upbeat in the face of setbacks and in caring so much that you would be letting people down in the first place. Not many people would care and that’s what sets you apart!! So if you never set foot on Main Street this year, you are a winner in my book!!!!!
5 more days!!!
Dana
Glad you had a great baby shower.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the blister. Hope it's feeling better.
I was in the same boat as you last year when I did the DL Half. I was not prepared. I did it anyway. I paid physically, but was able to get through it using mental strength. Keep telling yourself you can do it and you will!
