I'll keep you posted on the trial front.
So yesterday, my GM comes to me at work and says "I was chatting with our friend at the bank, and she's worried that you'll put your weight back on."
Holy cats! Talk about an extra kick in the pants! Time to get even more serious. I think I'm going to follow someone else's example and put measurements and whatnot on a sidebar here on Monday. That way I can:
a) accurately track body changes (positive ones)
b) come to terms with where I really am
c) have extra motivation to move forward
Like I said yesterday - I know I can do this - and am already on my way.
Besides - those three goals are VERY reachable. It's my new mantra.
Thinner, fitter, faster. It's like I'm the six million dollar man! We can rebuild me! We have the technology!
MAIN STREET AWAITS!
"I think I'm going to follow someone else's example and put measurements and whatnot on a sidebar here on Monday" - UHHH, you said you were gonna do that several months ago...
ReplyDeleteThe measurements and such have really helped me keep things in perspective. I hope it does the same for you. It also helps keep me motivated, knowing that everyone can see when I have ups and downs.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the trial! Do keep us informed. As a future lawyer, it would be awesome to hear some "trial stories".
You're doing great bud! Keep it up!
OK so now where are the numbers!!!
ReplyDeleteI want numbers!!!! If you post yours I will post mine!!!
And what did you do today for training??
And yes that is a kick in the pants. That should tell you to GET MOVING!!!!
You sir, crack me up! :-) But seriously, YES, I think we're all worried for you as well! We want to see you succeed on all those fantastic goals you've put forth. My old consulting company had a Productivity Management philosophy (don't they all...) and one of the items was "The 80 Hour Rule". If you couldn't do a piece of work in 80 hours or less then it needed to be split out into smaller, more manageable, goals. You could apply that here if you wanted to by breaking down your larger goals into two week segments. What are you going to accomplish in the next two weeks that will bring you closer to your goal? Small attainable goals rock by giving you something to celebrate every two weeks and giving you progress points along the way to the larger goal.
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion, do whatever works for you!
Oh, and .... Denny Crane....
ReplyDeleteOuch-that's a harsh wake up call...but it shows how much people care about you!
ReplyDeleteDon't just say it-do it! Get those numbers out there where we can see them. While I don't have as many followers, I know that anyone can see where I'm at and it totally motivates me to keep going.
Chris is also right about smaller attainable goals. Sometimes 35 pounds sounds impossible, but 5 or 10 sounds doable.
Now-getting posting and tell us where you are so we can cheer, commiserate, lift you up or whatever else you need!
Regarding the suggestion of a series of smaller more immediate goals, I totally agree. Shoot for 7 lb loss by Memorial Day.
ReplyDeleteI too am going for another 35 lbs by the Disneyland Half Marathon. That puts my progress target for Memorial Day right around 7 or 8 lbs.
Race ya to it. (Oh no, did I just throw down the gauntlet?)
And regarding the trial, here's the advice I always keep in mind: "A good lawyer knows the law. A great lawyer knows the judge."
Oh, and bring snacks for the jury.
Every Monday will have a new number. Remember, my goal is to lose another 40 pounds before the RnR half marathon. So every Monday, the number will go up. It will represent how far along that path I have gotten..
ReplyDeleteThat was on Feb 16. I've yet to see any numbers some two months later...
OK, I guess I am the only one who thought that remark was darn rude and hurtful!! I have watched you go thought this thing from the beginning and I have no doubt that you will reach your goals because you want them. Anyone who has not fought this battle (and I am fighting it now too) has no idea how hard it is everyday! It is not as easy as just saying “I am going to loose weight” because not only do you have to break food habits but also deal with the psychological reason you became overweight and a lot of other demons. Enough with the tough-love, it is time for a little nurturing!!! You can do this Jonathan and I have faith in you! It will be hard but you are strong and will come out on top. You need to accept the fact that there will be hard days and sliding back. Just keep moving forward and believe in yourself. You don’t need to answer to anyone except yourself. You are very lucky that you have Amber to do this with you. Be gentle with yourself, it will happen. And spring WILL come to WA and hopefully it will be more than 2 days!!
