Struggles

Wrestling with Gaston - now that was hard. :)

Let's face it - we were all worried that after the race, we'd lose steam. And it's happened to many of us. Myself included. This week has been rough so far.

I've had one good workout - the rest have been snowy mornings or early mornings or whatever. Food intake has been good though. Although we're going out to two nice dinners in the next five days.

But committed I am, and have been, and will be.

There are going to be bumps along the way folks. This is (for some of us) an entirely new WAY OF LIFE. And battling 28 years of previous habits is a constant struggle. But the more we integrate it into our everyday, the better we'll do overall.

So when was I at MY best? When, like Chris, I started going OUTSIDE. Getting off the treadmill, and breathing cool fresh air.

So that's my goal for this Saturday - a loop around Lake Serene. It's only 2.8 miles, but it's further than I've been walking/jogging since the race. It's a good push.

But the important thing is that I only have 19 weeks until the RnR Half here on June 27th. And if I can lose just 2 pounds a week from now until then, that'll put me about 20 pounds BELOW my lowest weight. And I'll be feeling GREAT for this run.

So. Goals.

1. Outside run this weekend.

2. Loss of 40 pounds before the RnR Half Marathon on June 27th.

3. Focusing on consistent food intake (three problem areas - 2/14 - Valentines Dinner - 2/17 - Dinner before the symphony - 3/5-8 - Weekend in Vegas for our anniversary). Understanding my struggles, and combatting them the whole time.

Let's all set some goals for ourselves. Short term ones. If we have something to reach for, we tend to stretch for it harder.

MAIN STREET AWAITS!

  1. Hey there Mr. Voice, I'm happy to report that I was indeed able to get outside for a jog yesterday! 4.81 miles, and while it wasn't Mike-Speed or Bryan-Speed, it was outside and I just kept swimming! So....C'mon folks, we CAN do this again, time to roll up the ol' sleeves (or keep them down to combat the cold..) and as one lady's sign said during the Disney race.."Git 'er done"!!!

Side note, ya know, I stayed up till 10:30p the last 3 weeks wondering if I was going to get a Mouse-call-back and nuttin'! I'm OLD!!!! I can't be staying up that late every week! LOL Is there such thing as a scheduled Mouse-call? I'll spontaneously make myself available for that one! ;-)

  2. Hi Jonathan!

It's funny you mention struggles, because I've been struggling lately too, and I can't even blame a post-marathon lull on it.

It sounds like you really have your head on straight though. You've identified potential problems and you have a goal to shoot for.

You can do it! Keep up the great work!

  3. I'm glad you're thinking proactively about your June race. Keep at it! Re food, just make good decisions whenever possible -- like eating half a creme brulee instead of the whole thing, or if you're having wine, not dessert -- or having them take away the bread basket after you and Amber each take one out of it. We can do this!!

  4. Your title says it all....and I can certainly relate to your struggles. The important thing is that you are setting achievable goals that mean something to you! You're absolutely right that if we have those goals we'll try harder to reach them.
