I'm baaaaack. And Dad is coming home from the hospital today. YAY! This is really really good news! He still has a long recovery ahead of him at home - but the fact is - he's going HOME. No more hospital. This is a good thing.
Speaking of good things - tonight is the opening of Beauty and the Beast at the Village Theatre (www.villagetheatre.org) and of course, Amber and I will be there to see the show. It looks to be amazing!
Now - as for me. Things have been holding pretty steady weightwise. I've made strides to not let this Oklahoma plane jumping throw me off track. Exercise though has been a little inconsistent. But I DID do my 5 miles as planned on Sunday! And I've been continuing to workout.
As we work on getting re-settled after the last two-and-a-half weeks, however, I'm focusing on getting BACK on track. This Saturday I'm doing another 8 miles. And hopefully fixing our treadmill this weekend (the belt slips) because the torrential rainy season is upon us here in Seattle. Flooding etc have been occurring, and although it comes and goes, I'd like an alternative for days where being outside isn't the smartest. Although I plan to do my long runs outside regardless of weather. We'll see how long that lasts - at least until it starts snowing!
The fact is - I'm going to do this. We hit a bump in the road. And it looks more and more likely that I'll be at the back of the pack, striving to finish in under 3:15. But finish I shall. And celebrate we will.
Right team? I mean - if I haven't given up yet - nothing can stop me! :)
MAIN STREET AWAITS!
I am so happy your Father is coming home.
ReplyDeleteI am proud of you sticking to your guns with all the life crisis.
Stick to your plan you will finish.
No more time for slacking !!!!
I mean it!!!! :)
I'm glad everything is well with your father, and for yourself.
ReplyDeleteMy dad was in the hospital at this time last year for a kidney transplant. Completely took the family by surprise. There were many complications and he was in the hospital for longer than expected. The point of all this? I completely fell off the exercise bandwagon, and it took me until January when I registered for the '09 Disney Half to get back on. Just wanted to let you know that it sounds like you are doing your best despite the circumstances. I know how hard it is to have a parent struggling in the hospital. Best wishes to your family and keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteJonathan,
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear your pop's is coming home.
So glad to hear your dad's good and you're still making strides!
ReplyDeleteFirst & foremost, welcome home & GLAD DAD'S OK!!!!! That's THE most important thing, more important than ANY race.
ReplyDeleteNext, just a word of advice.... given the floods, etc., keep in mind, the last time we checked, you did NOT come equipped with gills! Unless you've got a stock of gillyweed (Harry Potter reference for my wife), or an Aqualung (thank You Jacques Cousteau), swimming for exercise is good... swimming to complete your run is NOT good!
Don't take this in ANY way as doubting you... I KNOW you're going to do what you set out to do. Most importantly, you've already done it... you've lost weight (maybe not as much as you'd like to, but, you HAVE accomplished things already!), you've gotten healthier, & you've been raising money for a very good cause. So, whether or not you've crossed ANY finishline yet... you're already a winner in my book... then again, you always were!
so glad to see your post today! i was just gonna text you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back and glad to hear things are improving for your Dad.
ReplyDeleteFinish we shall my friend.
Glad to hear things are going well with your dad. Take care of the family first but I hope you make it back to the Podcast soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your dad is doing better and able to come home.
ReplyDeleteAwesome news! Thanks for the update! Have been checking regularly hoping to hear this. :-)
ReplyDeleteGet back on the training throttle! Since you've put in alot of hard work, it'll be like getting back on the bike. Couple of days coming back to speed, but after that you'll be right there.
Keep your head up!
That's wonderful news Jonathan. I wish your Dad a peaceful and speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have the right attitude. Don't give up. You can do it!
