You're the best - around!

Nothing's gonna ever keep ya down!

You're the best - in town!

Nothing's gonna ever keep ya down!

How about 2.79 miles in 36:50? And a beautiful area too - did you know there's a lake right by my house?Yeah - Lake Serene! What a nice path. Have to incorporate it into longer runs. I'm learning the paths around my house, and where all the hills are, etc, so I can make nice circuitous routes around for my longer runs.

But you must understand - that just before the last .75 miles, I developed a nasty side stitch.

And then two songs hit the iPhone."Gonna Fly Now"

and
"You're the Best"

I ran - jumped - pumped my arms - felt like I could conquer the world.

C'mon - you know the scene in Karate Kid - the tournament? Where Daniel is taking on all comers and taking them down one at a time? The Cobra Kais are falling hard and fast?

Or when Rocky hits the top of the steps?

THAT is how I feel right now.

MAIN STREET AWAITS!

  2. Great Job on the running! Isn't it funny all the beautiful things that are around us that we would never had noticed until we started running.

  3. Holy Cats!!!
    Cool, pictures.
The side stitch is from your body letting you know, more core exercise needs to be done. And the body is not use to you being outside running, jogging, speed walking. It will be a mind over matter to work through it.

    High five!!!!!!!

    Pride on 3.... 1....2....3... PRIDE!!!

  4. Isn't it amazing how that happens with songs? There's a few that will really perk me up on a run! I wish I had a whole iPod full of them.

  6. Side stitches are usually caused by "shallow breathing" - i.e., you need to fully inhale to completely fill your diaphragm.
