Where the Miles Are - a Work in Progress

Okay - so I'm not wet paint, but the metaphor still applies here.

Yesterday several people commented on my continuing success but also asked "Where are the miles?"

That's a wonderful question. The answer is: the miles are there - but I'm not focusing on them at the moment.

Here's the plan Angie and I have developed:

Focus on strength training (legs and arms) as well as balance and core for NOW. (Probably into the Spring). Lose weight. Lots. Fast. Continue running and building up stamina, but don't go crazy there. Once we've built up the base that I currently have, we ARE going to start going crazy with milage. Following a race training pattern.

I imagine the REALLY hard race training will start about 6-8 months out from the race.

Until then - the treadmill is my friend and I use it to supplement the other workouts and keep moving forward. My pace is getting better - my legs are getting stronger. And I'm running my own training marathon. :)

Sounds good doesn't it?

MAIN STREET AWAITS!

  1. Sounds like a plan. I would think that #1 goal is health, #2 is the race. Sounds like you are working hard at #1, and #2 will soon follow. Just don't neglect your cardio time now. It is important to build heart strength. Plus if you neglect it now, it will be that much harder to build stamina for the big race.

  2. I am glad to see you have a plan in place. I just worry,we all have came along way and I want you to get that awesome feeling of coming through the castle.
So no later than June you should be in your mileage groove??That is 6 months out.

  3. Sounds good. It seems more logical to do it the way that you are anyway. Get stronger, lose the weight, then start the heavy race training. Less likely to fall into some weird injury or something bad like that. But I hope this message finds you well and can't wait till the next show.
