Lessons Learned from MouseFest

I've decided not to start the day by day trip report yet - but instead to focus on some lessons I've learned through my trip. I wanted to share them. I expect the full trip report to start either tomorrow or Monday, rest assured.

1) HYDRATE. I'm quite sure the reason I feel like I've put on weight is that I was missing LOTS of water. I normally drink 3-4 liters of water a day. While gone, I drank BARELY one. This is a problem to be fixed next time.

2) Desserts can and do add up. ;)

3) Healthy choices ARE available - we did relatively good - you'll see when I do meal by meal reports - and listen to AATM - I'm sure there's a show in the works. :)

4) You can't do it all, but it's sure fun to try!

5) Enjoy the heck out of yourself - and be prepared to smile, laugh, and have more fun than you have in a long time! Your old friends will enjoy the company. And the new friends you make will quickly become lifelong friends.

I am truly blessed to have you all. And MouseFest proved it.

6) Walking is NOT the same as jogging. I walked TONS while I was gone, but jogged very little. Jogged this morning, and was exhausted after 20 minutes. Need to work on reconditioning to run. But hey - that's why I'm posting the lessons.

Because I'm learning.

January 8-11, 2009. It's fast approaching.

And Team Voice will be there rockin' and rollin!

MAIN STREET AWAITS!

  1. 1. Very guilty on the water intake here as well.
    2. More food consumed in a single seating than in a long time. However, our snack and counter options helped to spread out the intake.
    3. Healthy choices are available and I "could" have made more of them.
    4. Even with having 5 full days and staying on property for 6 nights we still missed serveral attractions. And we only did 1-2 meets a day.
    5. Yes, lots of fun amd smiles. Most of all it was great to meet and make new friends whom I look forward to seeing again in 09' Spending "more time" with the Team Voice members is something I am looking forward to. Yes, I agree new friends are a blessing.
    6. Correct. Walking is not jogging and if we don't do it we can lose some of the ground we gained. Have no fear though, you will be seeing Huey again soon.
    7. Humidity. Keep that in mind. It caught me off guard when Bryan and I broke into a jog last Saturday. Humidity in Iowa has been very low. Perhaps the trainer you are going to consult in January may have some ideas on how to approach that. Perhaps even mgreene has some thoughts about that too.

We are already starting to look at when we want to arrive and depart in 09. The run occurs during semester finals for the kids and we want to bring them along. We will figure that out though.

Let's all commit and register early.

Huey, Mainstreet, Dewey, Louie, and Donald await...

  2. Mongello!
What I have learned over my travels to WDW.
Always carry water.even if you buy a water bottle ,hang on to it. The water fountains are very cold there and filtered. We carried the 100 calorie snacks with us,and in the morning have a big meal. Then a late afternoon large meal and it will carry you through.
If you have a cup with you and if you want some ice just ask, they will give you ice.
I was told by a trainer to train for races here when you live in a cold state to turn the heat up to 75-78 and get on the TM and workout .You will sweat and get tired fast but it will help to compete in the heat here. Then on the other hand it could be as cold as you know what and no humidity.
I am working on getting a trainer to post on AATM for Team Voice.
BTW.. Mike F. posted a slogan on DWT for Team Voice. He suggested "Many Voices One Goal" :)

  3. I was listening to the LTAD podcast with you as the guest host. I heard you say that you think that the AATM podcast is the only friday disney podcast. I just wanted to let you know that Van on the Netcot podcast also publishes on Friday.

    Check him out.
