*yawn*

First of all - good morning - and thank you all for your wonderful comments yesterday. I'm as happy as a clam at my recent bout of success!

Secondly - Mike Scopa has a new blog post up at his blog - and I suggest you read it. It's wonderful - and amusing. See - using a treadmill means never coming into contact with a wolf. LOL

No run this morning - as Scopa said - the only thing that keeps you from your morning run is oversleeping. (see post title for more info)

But...I checked the scale and things are still going in the right direction.

I have a question for you today:

How often do you think I should be running to continue my training and conditioning for the 2009 half? I'm shooting for 4 times a week at this point - with an increase of 5 minutes per week. Is that too much? Too little? I'm curious as to your thoughts. At this point I have 18 months until the race. I also have an ~18 minute mile pace, which obviously will come down. But how to get to where I want to be without hurting myself, failing myself, or what?

Regardless - I know I'll get there. Especially with your help.

Speaking of help - I've seen a lot of comments from new readers. Thank you! Are you aware that for a very small amount of money - you can help me achieve my goal of sending pediatric cancer (and other illness) patients to WDW??? Let's put it this way - if you'd sponsored me last month - you'd owe a minimum (at $1/lb) of $9.00 for the month. A small price for an enormous good!

Tomorrow - INDEPENDENCE DAY (and a preview of things to come for me in July!)
(At Mousefest, I can't wait to ride Splash at NIGHT!)
MAIN STREET AWAITS!

  1. Isn't Splash going under refurb in December???

I also loved Mike's blog. He offers a lot of great advice for runners.

I think you should be running/working out at least 3-4 times per week (preferably 5) for at least 20 minutes (not including warm-up and cool-down) at your targeted heart rate to achieve proper cardiac/aerobic benefits. But that's just me. :-]

  3. I think you are doing fine with your training right now. 4 (or maybe 5) days per week seems reasonable for the amount of time until Jan 09. I agree with Kate that warm-up and cool down shouldn't be included.
Your drive is what inspires me to keep going. I look forward to your updates every day. Keep it up, buddy!

  4. I was told by my good ol Doctor who is in training for triathlons and has won a few. He Said cross train on the days you don't run.Running should be every other day,to give the joints a break from the pounding, and some recovery time.Do light weights for burning fat,Other wise muscle/fat you will look funny.Light keep it all under 68 lbs and lots of reps.Your heart rate should be rated for your age, height and now weight.Mine is 120-125.For the cardio part it is 140.Then when you can run the 13.1 miles to maintain the every other day runs should be at least 6 miles, and at least one at 8-10 miles.
That's what I was told. So I do a running program every other day,I found on I tunes podcast, called couch to 5k in 9 weeks I believe. It is working for me.
Can't wait to ride splash mountain!!!!!
