Okay - this sucks - but it had to happen eventually.
I've gained almost a half pound this week.
Now here's the real kick in the head - it all happened yesterday. Yesterday morning I checked - and was doing fine.
Okay - bad news first: I did have a long week with a lot of unscheduled food (i.e. - lots of driving) - and yesterday, being Easter, did celebrate some with a few un-necessary items (i.e. - a few M&Ms - some crackers - and TiraMisu for dessert) - and other than yesterday - almost NO exercise.
Wait - there IS good news.
Sorta. LOL
I'm having...what you might call...digestive issues today. My stomach hurts a lot and I'm very bloated. That tells me that a good majority of that weight is stuff I'm *ahem* holding onto needlessly. LOL And will let go of...oh - at any moment.
Additionally - now that the treadmill is here - the exercise component of things is really going to kick it up. I'm going to try for six days a week. M-W-F I'm going to use our new iFit Weight Loss Leve 1 workout thingie, and Tu-Th-S I'm going to just do my own rythym and shoot for that mile again (or more).
I know some of you are disappointed in me. Please don't be. Keep believing in me. Give me another week to prove to you I'm serious about this. Because I am.
I want to get to Main Street.
I'm going to.
Main Street Awaits.
Hey,I hope you feel better and don't get yourself down!! you will do great!Eat a bowl of oatmeal a day, even if it is the ready serve packets and you won't have that problem.Oh yeah and an yogurt, that helps alot.
ReplyDeleteQuit weighing daiy!!!!Do it weekly or biweekly just not daily so you don't bring yourself down I knoe that feeling OK Have a great day!!!!!
C-ya at the start line in 09!!!!!
Ps Did you see the new night race??WE are going!(hint Hint)
I agree, don't stress it. I'm headed for the '09 1/2 with you and I had an awful week (zero exercise and didn't watch what I was eating.)
ReplyDeleteBut remember, this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. Or at least a 1/2 one anyway!
Just a thought (and anyone that knows better please correct me), but I think as you begin to exercise you have to expect that you will start to lose less weight for awhile as you build up muscle. I think muscle weighs more.
ReplyDeleteAlso I think you are really supposed to judge weight loss by how your clothes are fitting you.

You're being too hard on yourself. It's expected that you will gain a little even as you lose...muscle weighs more than fat, for one thing. A friend of mine calls what you're doing "stinking thinking"...and you need to cut it out! :) Here's a snack for you to try, if you know you're gonna be in the car and munchy...almonds. They're great for you, fill you up quickly, and have a lot of health benefits (don't take my word for it, check out _YOU! The Owner's Manual_ or _YOU! On a Diet_ for more info). I eat my almonds with raisins, because I think nuts are too dry on their own.
ReplyDeleteI'd also recommend you use your daily weigh-in as a time to learn about your body. If you went up an ounce, what did you eat/not eat/do/not do that caused the change? Then learn from it. :)
Remember, it's all about the progress, not the perfection!
Oh, and if you want to read a book from my friend I referenced above, check out _Body Clutter_ (it's been on the NYTimes best seller list for a few weeks now)...it's aimed at women, but there's a lot of great info in there!
You're doing great!
Disappointed? Never!! You are in much better shape already. And all of us following your blog know that you will not give up on this.
ReplyDeleteSteady, consistant, exercise on that treadmill and your results should really start moving again.
Keep this in mind. You will reach plateaus and when you do, just keep at it. I once did not lose weight for 2 weeks and man was I bummed out. But by staying with it I broke though and lost 5 lbs.
Cheering you on from out here in the mid-west.
